PédeXumbo Association, Reguengos de Monsaraz City Council and União de Freguesias de Campo e Campinho announce that Andanças festival will not have an edition in 2027, extending the already planned 2026 break, in the current biennial model.
This decision falls within a particularly demanding cycle for the Association. In 2027, Évora will be the European Capital of Culture, and PédeXumbo—as a structure based in the city—will assume responsibilities in the conception and execution of projects integrated into this program.
This context implies a significant mobilization of human, technical, and financial resources in the coming years, in parallel with the association’s regular activity—festivals, artistic creation, cultural mediation, and continued work with low-density communities and territories. This demand, associated with the scale and complexity of Andanças, would compromise the necessary conditions to ensure the festival’s quality, sustainability, and impact standards.
Given this situation, PédeXumbo chooses to concentrate its activities on Évora 2027, guaranteeing rigorous and responsible management of its resources. The postponement of Andanças allows it to safeguard the consistency of the work developed, both in the regular programming and in the contribution to this exceptional cycle, as well as to prepare future editions of the festival in a structured way.
Andanças remains alive, sustained by the continuous work of PédeXumbo and the communities that give it body.
See you in 2028!
